I started with an online finance-and-probability assessment that felt pretty time-pressured. Depending on the question, it ranged from expected-value style thinking to scenarios where I had to translate events into fair values across different industries and market setups I wasn’t fully familiar with. As it went on, the difficulty ratcheted up, and it definitely tested whether I could keep my reasoning clean when I couldn’t go back and double-check.
After the recruiter conversations, the process leaned heavily into stock/market reasoning. I had phone and/or researcher-style interviews where the focus was why SIG in particular, plus a lot of probability and game-theory perspective on how to think about events. There was also a strong market component—catalysts, mispricing, and how I would react to changing conditions. One part that stood out was a pitch and probability emphasis: I had to present a short stock pitch and frame it around how I’d model outcomes and catalysts.
