I had a genuinely frustrating process that felt disorganized and inconsistent about what stage I was actually in. It started with a hiring-team interview that went well, then I moved to a VP round and was told an AVP-style final interview would follow. Everything in the technical and leadership conversations seemed to land positively, and I kept expecting the process to move toward a decision.
Instead, after the interviews were already done, I was pulled into yet another client-related conversation, which threw off the structure completely. After that extra step, I was rejected, with feedback pointing to a basic, hands-on skill that I’d already demonstrated earlier in the process. What made it especially irritating was how the explanation didn’t feel consistent with what I’d shown earlier, especially since the role I applied for was positioned as more senior.

Average Positive India
After an initial screening, I moved into an online assessment and then two live rounds on the same day. The technical portion leaned heavily on SQL plus puzzles and reasoning, with a mix of scenario-style questions. I remember it feeling closer to a discussion than a formal grilling—there was a lot of emphasis on how I thought through problems, not just whether I landed on the “right” answer.
The rounds stayed fairly friendly and conversational. I got questions that tied back to my resume and how I’d approach real work, and I was also asked to think on my feet through guestimates and brain-teaser style prompts. Both interviewers seemed patient, and even when I was stuck, the interaction stayed constructive rather than combative.
