EOG Interview Guide
Everything we know about interviewing at EOG: the process stage by stage, what each round tests, and compensation by level.
Interviewing at EOG
What the process looks like, and what EOG is really testing for.
You can expect a multi-step process that mixes an early screening step, then technical interviews, and then more in-person or senior-team style conversations for fit and final evaluation. Across the reports we have, the process includes combinations of phone screening, initial screening, technical interviews, on-site or in-person discussions, and a final decision, plus a feedback and offer step when you are selected.
What they actually test, based on the extracted topic data, is role-relevant capability plus how you communicate. Coding tests and timed coding show up very prominently, as do algorithms and problem solving, behavioral interviewing, resume-based technical storytelling, and communication skills. For business and finance-adjacent roles, financial analysis, accounting knowledge, oil and gas accounting, and gap analysis between experience and requirements are also very prominent.
There is no reported offer rate in the candidate reports we have, so you should not assume outcomes based on that dataset. Sentiment is positive in 62.0% of reports, and the difficulty distribution skews medium (48.6%) with a substantial easy share (36.1%), while hard and very hard together are 15.3%. In practice, that means you should focus on consistently executing the core, frequent themes rather than relying on extremely niche topics.
The single most useful non-obvious fact is that resume-based technical storytelling and gap analysis (matching your experience to the requirements) are both highly prominent. If you can clearly connect your past work to what the role needs and explain it in an interview-ready narrative, you are aligned with multiple frequent topics at once.
