I got pulled into what was positioned as a “guaranteed interview” through a big hiring event, and the overall vibe felt more like a spectacle than a real evaluation. The invite framed it like I’d be interviewed, but after the event I learned it would be an AI assessment. It left me feeling like my time was being used as training data rather than as a chance to speak with a recruiter.
The AI interview itself was tough in a very specific way—questions were highly scenario-based and asked for sales strategy reasoning in a way that felt rigid and hard to work through conversationally. It wasn’t validating, and the format didn’t really feel like it was testing my judgment so much as pushing me through prompts. I also ran into moments that made it feel even less transparent: it wasn’t clear enough about where they were hiring from, and even when I asked about limitations like US states they wouldn’t cover, there wasn’t any real answer.

Difficult Positive Taiwan
I went through a pretty long loop that stretched from January into March. It started with a recruiter call, then moved to a hiring manager conversation. After that came a role play and presentation, followed by time with a regional manager, and then a culture-fit discussion. Even though it took weeks, I appreciated that responses came back quickly between steps, which kept me from feeling totally in the dark.
The interviews themselves felt straightforward and structured, and the people running them were genuinely good at guiding the flow. The hiring manager didn’t just talk abstractly—there was real focus on what the role would ask of me day to day. I remember having to demonstrate sales thinking through the role play and presentation stages, and then reinforcing how I fit culturally and how I’d work with the team.
