I went through what started as a promising process and turned into a long endurance test. First I had multiple rounds with a professional, easy-to-talk-to interview team, and at around the middle point I was told I had cleared everything. Even so, the hiring timeline kept stretching, and after that I hit a “cooling-off” period of about four weeks with no communication. Just when I thought it was over, I was told there had been a “policy change,” and I had to complete three more rounds that effectively revisited similar conversations.
By the time I reached the end, the process had grown to seven rounds total. The final decision was a rejection, and what stuck with me most wasn’t just the outcome—it was how the repeated rounds and the silence made it feel like I was preparing across multiple seasons with no real clarity. I’d expected a more structured and time-conscious process, so the lack of transparency and continuity was honestly the most frustrating part.

Average Negative Poland
My Box Software Engineer interview felt like a classic LeetCode-style journey, but with an emphasis more on data structures than algorithms. The first technical screen ran about two hours, and the interviewer joined at the start and again at the end just to discuss results. The next coding/DSA round lasted about an hour with the interviewer on the call the whole time, followed by a separate LLD interview and then a behavioral interview with the hiring manager.
The LLD round was the most distracting moment for me—the interviewer’s webcam wasn’t even on. The hiring manager also threw me off badly: they misunderstood the context of a project I’d discussed and, rather than asking for clarification, accused me of lying. Even though the conversation was hard to follow, I felt like my intent got lost and the tone shifted in a way that didn’t reflect my work. Two weeks later I got a short rejection email with minimal, generic feedback that didn’t really help me understand what happened.
