"Why do you want to join Meta as a Project Manager? I’m less interested in generic enthusiasm for the company and more interested in what specifically motivates you about Meta’s mission, products like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, or Reality Labs, and the kind of leadership challenges you want to take on here. Walk me through why this move makes sense for you now, and ground your answer in past experiences that show this motivation is real."
This is a behavioral question, not a culture-fit softball. The interviewer is testing whether your interest in Meta is thoughtful, specific, and connected to how you lead: operating through ambiguity, influencing cross-functional teams, prioritizing at scale, and taking ownership in fast-moving environments. They also want to see whether your motivations align with the realities of the role rather than just the brand.
A strong answer ties your motivation to one or two concrete experiences where you led work with similar scale, complexity, or user impact. The best responses are specific about why Meta, specific about why now, and show self-awareness about the environment in which you do your best work.
