Project Background
Meta's Facebook Feed team has completed a 6-week mixed-methods research study on why younger users are skipping recommended content and spending less time engaging with Feed. You are the User Experience Researcher responsible for presenting findings in a team-wide review and ensuring the output leads to concrete product decisions, not just discussion. The audience includes Product, Design, Data Science, Engineering, and Research leadership across a 22-person cross-functional team.
The team is under pressure because the VP expects a prioritized Q3 roadmap recommendation in 3 weeks, and the PM wants to lock scope for two Feed ranking experiments before the next planning cycle. Your readout must influence roadmap decisions, clarify trade-offs, and align stakeholders on what gets acted on now versus later.
Key Stakeholders
- Feed Product Manager wants clear recommendations tied to Q3 scope
- Engineering Manager wants only findings that can be acted on within current capacity
- Design Lead wants confidence that user pain points are represented accurately
- Data Science Lead wants findings connected to measurable product outcomes
- Research Director expects methodological rigor and a reusable communication model
Constraints
- You have 10 business days to prepare the readout
- Meeting length is fixed at 45 minutes with 15 attendees
- Only 2 engineers are available for Q3 implementation work tied to this research
- Budget allows for no additional follow-up study before roadmap decisions
- The team already has 11 open insights from prior studies that were never operationalized
Complications
- The PM and Design Lead disagree on whether the biggest issue is content relevance or visual overload.
- A recent leadership review criticized research presentations for being "interesting but not actionable."
- One of your strongest findings conflicts with an experiment the Data Science Lead already wants to launch.
Your Task
- Design a plan for how you would structure and deliver the team-wide readout so findings are actionable.
- Define how you would translate insights into prioritized product decisions, owners, and next steps.
- Propose how you would handle stakeholder disagreement during and after the meeting.
- Identify the key risks to execution and how you would mitigate them.
- Specify what success looks like 2 and 6 weeks after the readout.
