Dropbox is a mature B2B and prosumer collaboration platform with hundreds of millions of registered users and a growing enterprise business. The company differentiates on ease of use, cross-device access, and trusted file storage, but security features are often underused because many customers find them confusing.
Dropbox is preparing to launch a new account protection experience that encourages users to enable two-factor authentication (2FA), review suspicious login alerts, and understand file-sharing risks. Internal research shows only 24% of SMB admin accounts have 2FA enabled, and support tickets related to "unexpected login" and "shared file access confusion" have increased 18% quarter over quarter. Product leadership believes the issue is not only feature availability, but poor communication: users do not understand the security concepts well enough to take action.
You are the PM responsible for this launch. Your challenge is to explain core security concepts to a non-security audience in a way that increases trust and drives adoption without creating fear, friction, or drop-off.
